Final Integration/Assembly
Sechan maintains a modern, flexible manufacturing facility to support a wide range of subsystem types. Assembly operations are performed on items varying greatly in size and complexity. The largest items assembled would include shipboard missile launch canisters and vehicle-mounted shelter systems. All assembly areas are climate-controlled, well lit, and specifically tailored to product type.
Assembly facilities are designed to optimize product integration by using a combination of flexible, lean cells and more rigid constructions dependent on process type and product longevity. The integration area layout achieves a balance between prudent resource utilization and waste reduction. Primary factory layout, design considerations include the minimization of material and people travel, work in process management, and visual status.
Process control, continuous improvement, and working on the right components at the right time are focus elements of the manufacturing staff. Sechan's on-
line work instruction software package provides comprehensive instructional media and real-time change control. Shop floor scheduling, work prioritization, and progress status is provided by an adaptive manufacturing software system. This scheduling engine is a theory of constraints based tool that operates using dynamic lead time data, and finite capacity assessment at constraint operations to provide instant prioritization of factory work in process.
